Directions for use: Baqsimi
- Pull on the red stripe to remove the shrink wrap.
- Lift the lid and take the device.
- Do not test the device as it contains a single dose.
- Hold the tip between your fingers, then place your thumb on the plunger. Be careful not to press on the plunger before administering the dose.
- Carefully insert the tip in one nostril until your fingers touch the nose.
- Press on the plunger until it is fully inserted in the device. When you no longer see the green line, the dose has been completely administered.
- Remove the device from the nose.
- Contact emergency services promptly so that the person receives medical care. If the person is unconscious, place them on one side.
- Following dosing, throw away the used device and tube, as it only contains a single dose.
Generally, Baqsimi takes effect within 15 minutes. As soon as the person can swallow safely, encourage them to eat a fast-acting source of sugar, such as fruit juice. Then, encourage them to eat a low-acting source of sugar, such as peanut butter or cookies with cheese.
