Directions for use: holding chamber (mask)

- Remove the cap from the metered-dose inhaler, then shake the inhaler.

- Insert the metered-dose inhaler into the back of the spacer device.

- Place the mask on the face so that it fits securely over the mouth and nose. Check to make sure that there is a good seal.
- Breathe out to empty the air from the lungs.

- At the beginning of a slow breath in, press the metered-dose inhaler to release a dose of the medication.
- Breathe in and out slowly and deeply for 5 to 6 breaths holding the mask on the face. The valve should move with each breath.
- Remove the metered-dose inhaler, then replace the cap on the mouthpiece.
Do not breathe too fast: some devices emit a whistling sound to let you know if you are breathing too quickly.
If you must take more than one inhalation (of the same medication or another medication), wait 1 to 2 minutes between doses.
Clean the device once a week, as recommended by the manufacturer. Replace the spacer after 12 months of use.
If you have problems using the spacer, speak to your pharmacist; he or she will be happy to help you.
