OR

- Press the metered-dose inhaler to release a dose of the medication.
- Breathe in and out through the spacer (3-4 times for adults, 4-6 times for children) while keeping a tight seal between your lips and the mouthpiece. The valve should move with each breath.
- Remove the metered-dose inhaler, then replace the cap on the mouthpiece.
Do not breathe too fast: some devices emit a whistling sound to let you know if you are breathing too quickly.
If you must take more than one inhalation (of the same medication or another medication), wait 1 to 2 minutes between doses.
Clean the device once a week, as recommended by the manufacturer. Replace the spacer after 12 months of use.
If you have problems using the spacer, speak to your pharmacist; he or she will be happy to help you.
