Directions for use: nasal sprays
- Gently blow your nose.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Shake the sprayer well, if mentioned on the product label.
- Remove its cap.
- Some devices may need to be primed the very first time they are used, or if they have not been used for several days. Simply press a few times until a fine mist is produced. Ask whether this step is necessary for your nasal spray.
- To keep the medication from running down your throat, tilt your head forward slightly.
- Hold the sprayer as shown in the drawing on the left. Place the sprayer tip in one nostril.
- Press the other nostril closed with one finger.
- As you inhale in a normal fashion, spray the medication with the spray aimed toward the outer side of the nose. Do not inhale deeply.
- Repeat for the other nostril, if required.
- Wipe the sprayer tip with a clean tissue and recap the sprayer.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Wait at least 15 minutes after application before blowing your nose.
If you suffer from nasal congestion, ask your pharmacist to recommend a decongestant. Never share a nasal spray.
