Directions for use: Ozempic and Wegovy (Flextouch)

- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Remove the pen cap.
- Look through the pen window. If the solution looks cloudy or coloured, do not use the pen.

Preparing a new injection pen
- Take a new needle and remove the paper tab. Then attach the needle to the pen and pull off the caps.
- Turn the dose selector until the dose counter shows the flow check symbol.
- Hold the pen with the needle pointing up.
- Press and hold the dose button until the dose counter returns to 0. You should see a drop on the needle tip. If not, repeat the previous steps (maximum 6 times for Ozempic® and 2 times for Wegovy® [FlexTouch®]).

Weekly injection
- The medication must be injected under the skin (subcutaneous injection). Do not inject it into a vein or muscle.
- Clean the injection area with an alcohol swab. The abdomen, thighs and upper arms are the preferred injection sites.
- Take a new needle and remove the paper tab. Then attach the needle to the pen and pull off the caps.
- Turn the dose selector until the dose counter shows the prescribed dose.
- Insert the needle into the skin. Do not cover the dose counter with your fingers as this could interrupt the injection.
- Press and hold the dose button until the dose counter returns to 0. Keep the needle inserted and slowly count to 6.
- Safely remove the needle and replace the cap on the pen.
Always discard the needle after each injection, otherwise it may become contaminated or blunt. Dispose of needles in a sharps container and return to the pharmacy when full.
