Directions for use: transdermal patches

- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
- Carefully remove the patch from its packaging.

- Remove the protective film that covers the sticky side of the patch.

- Place the patch on a hairless area of skin that is clean and dry. Press the patch firmly for about 10 seconds and smooth down the edges.
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Notes
If there is hair in the area where you want to place the patch, trim it with scissors instead of shaving. To avoid skin irritation, apply patches to different sites each time. Patches are waterproof; you do not have to remove your patch before you swim or shower.
To remove a patch, press down on the center to raise the outer edges. Grasp the edges and gently peel it off. Always remove the patch at the same time each day, as prescribed by your physician. If the patch becomes loose before you have to remove it, discard it and replace it with a new one.
Never cut a patch before first speaking to a health care professional. Cutting a patch may affect the amount of medication that is delivered.
At the end of an application period, a patch may still contain a significant amount of medication. After peeling the patch off, fold it in two (sticky side to sticky side) and ask your pharmacist how to dispose of them safely.
Warning: Some patches should not be exposed to the sun. Ask your pharmacist about the patches you are using.
